Shifting Power in Practice
The Regional Humanitarian Partnership Week (RHPW) Asia Pacific 2025, held in Bangkok from 8 –10 December 2025 and co-organized by ICVA, ADRRN, Community World Service Asia, and OCHA, brought together humanitarian actors from across the region to reflect on how aid systems must change in response to growing crises, shrinking resources, and increasing calls for accountability.

Future of Humanitarian Aid – Colombia
On Thursday, October 2nd, a regional launch event was held at Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia), bringing together humanitarian organizations, academics, civil society actors, and representatives from regional networks to officially present in Latin America the report: “The Future of Aid 2040: Pathways to Transformation”.

South-South Exchange on networks of humanitarian shelters with a gender perspective
On 21 July 2025, Bogotá became the meeting point for women-led organizations, human rights defenders, and grassroots leaders from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Convened by the ToGETHER program, the South-South Exchange Tejidos de Esperanza created a space for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and collective action around community-based humanitarian shelters with a gender perspective.

Second Symposium on the Localization of Humanitarian Aid – CONAFOHD DR Congo
After being postponed earlier this year, the Second National Symposium on the Localization of Humanitarian Aid finally took place in Kinshasa from 23 to 25 June 2025. Under the theme “From Bukavu to Kinshasa: new milestones for the localization framework in the DRC”, the event was designed as a logical and ambitious follow-up to the first symposium held in Bukavu in October 2023.

Congreso de Localización de la Acción Humanitaria: América Latina y el Caribe 2025
Por tercer año, Colombia será el escenario del Congreso de Localización de la Acción Humanitaria, un espacio clave para impulsar el liderazgo local en la respuesta a crisis humanitarias. El 6 y 7 de mayo de 2025, en Bogotá, organizaciones locales, actores internacionales y expertos se reunirán para discutir avances, desafíos y oportunidades en la localización de la acción humanitaria en la región.

ToGETHER 2.0 Launched in Ethiopia
As part of the Civil Society Organizations’ (CSOs) Week 2024, a panel discussion titled “ToGETHER’s Localization Journey and its Best Practices in Ethiopia” took place at the Ghion Hotel, Addis Ababa. The session, organized by the ToGETHER partners in Ethiopia brought together key stakeholders to reflect on ToGETHER’s partners localization efforts in humanitarian aid and to advocate for strengthening the role of local actors in humanitarian response.

ToGETHER at the Launch of GFFO’s New Strategy for Humanitarian Assistance
On 26 September 2024, ToGETHER attended the launch of the German Federal Foreign Office’s (GFFO) new Strategy for Humanitarian Assistance in Berlin. The event, which brought together key humanitarian actors and government officials, was an opportunity to not only showcase our work but also engage in meaningful discussions about the future of humanitarian assistance.

A year following the release of the DG ECHO’s guidance note on equitable partnerships, a collection of case studies showcasing best practices has been unveiled, including ToGETHER. These case studies, prepared by national and international organizations, offer invaluable insights into the efforts to advance locally led humanitarian action through equitable partnerships.

ToGETHER recognised for advancing local humanitarian action in the Global Humanitarian Overview 2024
In the latest edition of the Global Humanitarian Overview 2024, ToGETHER has been featured, underscoring its commitment to advancing local humanitarian action. Specifically highlighted in section 2, titled “Delivering better – As local as possible: progress in making localization in humanitarian action a reality,” are the significant contributions made by ToGETHER and its partners in various regions.

Fostering Humanitarian Localization in Latin America and the Caribbean: Insights from the Localization Congress
The congress on “Localization of Humanitarian Action: Latin America & the Caribbean” held in Bogota, Colombia, on 8-9 November 2023, was a pivotal event gathering humanitarian actors from local and international spheres from Latin America and the Caribbean. Organized by the Local Humanitarian Partners (LHPs) ToGETHER Programme in Colombia, including ABIUDEA, Associacion Salto Ángel, Benposta Nación de Muchachos, Corporación Agencia Afrocolombiana “Hileros”, and the National Secretariat of Social Pastoral Caritas Colombiana SNPS-CC.

National Disaster Risk Reduction Commemoration Month in Indonesia
In an effort to actively promote localization in humanitarian action, ToGETHER Indonesia made a significant impact at the National Disaster Risk Reduction Commemoration Month organized by Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana from 10-15 October 2023, in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. ToGETHER’s South-to-South Exchange in Africa
The first regional South-to-south exchange took place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 9 to 13 October 2023, bringing together the three ToGETHER African countries: the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, and Somalia. Additionally, representatives from Diakonie Katastrophen Hilfe Kenya Regional Office, PMU (Germany), and PAC (Germany) attended to foster collaboration and share knowledge.

Experience the ToGETHER Global Conference 2022: A Video Summary
From October 24th to 28th, 2022, the city of Bonn hosted the ToGETHER Global Conference on localization of humanitarian aid – Turning the promises into action, bringing together more than 40 participating organizations from 9 diverse countries. With a shared commitment to localization of humanitarian aid, the conference served as a platform for fostering dialogue, exchanging knowledge, and developing actionable strategies for a more people-centered approach.

Empowering Communities: PHALS and CDD Showcase ToGETHER Project Initiatives
On June 6, 2023, Malteser International (MI) along with two Local Humanitarian Partners (LHPs) of ToGETHER Project, Program for Helpless And Lagged Societies (PHALS) and Centre for Disability in Development (CDD), actively participated in the Market Place Event organized by NGO Platform Cox’s Bazar. They showcased their interventions and efficiencies to donors, the United Nations (UN), and other key stakeholders in preparation for the prospective Joint Response Plan (JRP) cycle. Over 30 member NGOs participated in the marketplaces, highlighting their respective initiatives.

Localization of humanitarian aid in Ethiopia
Our colleagues from AEID, AISDA, APDA, CIFA, Wako Gutu Foundation and Welthungerhilfe Horn of Africa in Ethiopia, organized a panel discussion on “Localization of humanitarian aid in Ethiopia“. The event aimed to promote learnings on the state of localized humanitarian aid and to discuss challenges and prospects for promoting the agenda in the country.

2nd National Humanitarian Network General Assembly
ToGETHER partners in Pakistan organised the “Localisation in practice event” in the 2nd National Humanitarian Network (NHN) General Assembly as on 23-24 January 2023. 190 Local Organisations along with UN, ICVA, NEAR, H2H, CHS Alliance and many INGOs participated and contributed in the event.

Visit to DG ECHO
After the “ToGETHER Global Conference on localization of humanitarian aid – Turning the promises into action“, some partners visited the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) to discuss about local leadership, flexible funding and equitable partnerships in Humanitarian Action with ECHO Acting Director General, Michael Köhler, and the team.
